What is The Blogger Recognition Awards?

The blogger recognition award is given out by bloggers to bloggers to recognize the hard work and dedication they put into their blog every day.

It connects bloggers with new readers, provides motivation, encouragement and creates a strong community of bloggers.

I’m super stoked to have this little corner of my web space recognized by Amy at Surviving The Middle for The Blogger Recognition Award. (My first blogging award! ek!) Who knew that when I started this blog that it would grow into what it is today and also gain loyal followers that make me so proud of what I do!

Thank you, Amy!

Why Did I Start Sharon Schuler | encouragement for the overwhelmed mom?

I started blogging as answering a call to write. What better way to be challenged to write than a BLOG!

I’m a mother to 5 kiddos whom I love dearly, but when in the ocean of mom-hood, it can (of course) feel a little overwhelming as a job, but also overwhelming as an identity. Motherhood is a piece of my identity, yet it is something that I’m doing 24/7. There is this feeling — like being a mom is about to take over everything of who I am. So what better way to do something for myself as a women than blog — about motherhood (???… shrug…lol) It’s a beautiful creative outlet  –  it encourages me – (hopefully) yet – it’s here to encourage other moms in the overwhelmed mom zone too.

What Advice do I have for Newbie Bloggers?

1)My advice for new bloggers is to know your why.

If you don’t have your why you are blogging, then the writing, photo editing, researching, technology learning, WordPress and Facebook and Pinterest will get old really fast. Whatever you take on to start with to will come with the price of a learning curve, time and frustration, so hang onto that why you do what you do and you can ride out any storm of doubt and discouragement and impatientness (so me, right here! hands up).

Plugins that you’ll need to install or make sure you have up and running are:

Yoast SEO – to optimize organic search engines with your logged in focus words

MonsterInsights – (to read your Google analytics right on your dashboard

Easy Forms for MailChimp – or some sort of email list builder * number one thing to work on when you start out blogging!

WP Cyber Security – protecting your site against bots, brute force attacks, and hackers

UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore – automatically backup your site

Broken Link Checker ensuring that all links and images on your site are still up and running

Duplicate Page – with one click of the button you can copy a post or page, keeping the same templates for yourself! Being more efficient with your productivity.

Easy Google Fonts – to get that look that you want in your fonts (but there’s no winter brush 🙁 )

Sassy Social Sharefor full social buttons to make posts easy to share on your site. You can place them as a side bar or above your posts )like I have) or below your posts

WordPress Editorial Calendar – making it super easy to see the layout of your upcoming blog post, what is scheduled, what is a draft. Easy to move around posts with a drag and a drop feature. Also, I find this is a super handy plugin to use for brain storming session of new post ideas. All you have to do is click and create posts, then you create, create, create. When you are done you can organize where you want which post.

Lastly — of, course you definitely should have your Jetpack and Akismet Anti-Spam up and running

Now Drumroll, please…
