At the start of this journey…
My name is Sharon. I am: a Canadian, a dairy farmers wife, mother, and stay at home mom, but my favorite is; a follower of Jesus.
I’m a Canadian that lives in Ontario, close to our Nations Capital. I’m a dairy farmers wife that ONLY sees the inside of the barn once every few months. Mainly when I bring my man some food.
My man does the farm work and I do the house work. I know, very 1950’s of us. But we love the set up and the work that we do. We are both the oldest child in our families and anyone that knows the birth order “oldest” type, my farmer and I both fall into that category perfectly. So it’s a GREAT thing that we each have our own place to work. We still love each other very much after being married for nine years and having four children (and one miscarriage) together. My farmer is a Christian as well, and what an answer to prayer that was. ( All you single ladies out there know exactly what I’m talking about!) I’m a Christian too, like I said, but an imperfect Christian making imperfect progress. (to borrow a line from Lysa Terkhurst) I know… pretty typical…but there is such joy in my day (I already said NOT perfect) that I have to write it down. This is something that I’ve been doing for the past 20 years. My love of journaling starting when I was a young teen. (Again, NOT perfectly) Most recent in my journaling journey is that:
I’ve been feeling the call from God to push my boundaries in writing further… it’s time to stop writing to myself but for other people. Encouraging others weekly… so here we are!
Taking that step out, as any writers know = a scary thing.
Another recent development in my life is that I’ve signed up and became a “Student” of writing. Lysa Terkhurst and other like minded individuals started a membership site for writers. At COMPEL you don’t have to know how to write, you just have to have a passion to do so and a love of learning. You learn by going through a checklist of past videos, podcasts and presentation. I love it and have slowly been working my way through it, learning so much as I do! Anyone out there that has a burning desire in their heart for writing, I encourage you to check out COMPEL. As they will be opening up their registration again this spring. You don’t need a PhD to do this! I’m a busy mama and I’ve found some time here and there to answer that burning desire in me to write.
Squashing those inner doubts of: “your not good enough and don’t know how.” Thank you for sharing the start of this journey with me.
